At my brother's wedding yesterday one of the options for the wedding breakfast was 'taste of the wild'. Turns out it was Venison, Ostrich and Zebra! To be honest the Ostrich didn't taste of anything. venison was very nice. The zebra was like a very lean steak (same as horse). Apparently zebra are now being farmed!

    OK
Wouldn't be my choice of food but we've been farming and cooking all sorts over the years.
I'm not too keen on venison, and horse gives me wind.
    Was there a vegetarian option?:D

A couple of years ago, I went to one of those restaurants where it's completely pitch black and you don't know what you're eating. Great fun, once I got over the weird feeling of claustrophobia that comes when you can't see your hand in front of your face but you know that you're in a really busy room with 50 strangers.
You have a choice of 4 menus - vegetarian, fish, meat and adventurous. I chose adventurous and ended up with a trio of little cuts of meat which turned out to be camel, kangaroo and crocodile. All were really good, though a little messy because it's almost impossible to use a knife and fork if you can't actually see them so everything had to be eaten with your hands. Highly recommend the experience, just don't bother dressing up in any thing that you don't want to get sauce all over. :)

Not sure I'd cross the road to eat that, although I'm sure for others it's not quite as black and white.

Seriously though, really fun experience, though very odd and very, very noisy. All the waiters are visually impaired, and walk around shouting their name or a phrase on a constant loop to signal to the others where they are. You're not allowed to get up from your seat, or bring any belongings into the restaurant part (lockers for that stuff in the reception area). If you need anything or want to leave, or go to the toilet, you have to put your hand up and there are people in a control room watching on night vision cameras who tell the waiters via their earpieces to go over to you.

A wonderful bird is the Pelican.
His beak can hold more than his belly can.
