I'm supply and just arrived at a school where the yr11 do not seem to have had any form of assessment for their GCSE
I have had vague answers from their former teacher ( also supply) about where any written assessments are,.
The pupils seem very negative .
They have to do a speaking assessment before the end of term. They have not covered any before. Trying o keep positive and offering lunch and after school tuition- none taken to date. No one else in Dept . Help !

    Looks like your options are:
    1. Walk away: looks like you won't do that
    2. Go as far up the management tree as you can to state the situation and ask for help and decisions. If you are in effect the Dept then you need SLT to get a grip. If you can suggest solutions as well as the problem, so much the better for all concerned.

Not an ideal situation but not all is lost. If you want to proceed you need to pick two topics and do a speaking and writing for each which means they can use similar material. As far as I am aware this is allowed but you need to check. You only need two pieces of each. Ideally you would have a bank of stuff to send off but this is damage control. Who is the Hod? This should have been flagged up ages ago and not left to a supply but good on you for bothering and thinking of the students.

And try and negotiate time for this. you do need it and if they are concerned about results they should be investing time in this

Some good advice above - can't add anything except say 'good luck'!

The end of term? That is only two weeks away - or just over two weeks. What can you organise in such a short time?

The speaking and writing do not need to be sent off until may. Push for a slot in January. Then you can revise and set task for first week back .
