Well, its a good thing and a bad thing. The EBacc will provide a solid baseline for assessment and comparrison of all schools. So this is a good thing. On the other hand, the bad thing is that it will force all children into a set curriculum that may or may not be appropriate for them. However, this years league tables are rather like putting the cart before the horse. The Government should have introduced the new requirements for assessing a school's performance and then, two years later, included them in the performance tables. It's going to be rather hard on schools where the students do BTEC Science as their figures are going to look worse than they should be.
