Hi, As I'm sure many of you have experienced, my secondary special school has seen a change in the needs of our students with more and more complex needs students coming through. I am about to set up a 'nurture' type class of 13 year 7 and year 8 pupils working around P3 to P8. I will be teaching the students all subjects except P.E. Many of these students are Autistic and the majority are also non-verbal. Does anyone have any tips, ideas, or examples of classroom structure and/or timetables? At the minute I am thinking of structuring it like an infant class with phonics input everyday, literacy and numeracy hours as well as free play activities based around a topic. I have 4 TAs to help me. Any examples of TA task sheets would also be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
