    Hi,
I have an interview coming up and one of the tasks is to read to a group of year 6 pupils. I have to bring my own book. Any suggestions?

I did children’s literature as my specialism for primary PGCE, trying to think of some of the books we did for UKS2.

We definitely did “a monster calls“ and “my name is Mina” although I’m personally not too keen on the second one.

When I taught year 5, we did a whole unit of work on “the wolves in the wall” which is a picture book but it’s not really for young children.

I always say go with a book you yourself are familiar with. Then you can concentrate on what you want the children to gain from the story as opposed to trying to deliver it whilst being unfamiliar with it.

Find a simple objective attainable and able to demonstrate progress by the pupils within the timeframe.
