    Hi
Does anybody have any good suggestions for some short practical activities for Year 6 students to participate in as they wander around the academy on the Year 6 Open Evening?
    All ideas gratefully welcomed.

    Thanks

Gosh it fills you with dread doesn't it. We do a mix of 'food' related activities. Design your own 'over the top menu' etc. We also do FAQ sheets of what we as a Dept do and set up a room as if a lesson is taking place. I think there's a balance between interesting activities for the children as well as addressing the questions that the parents will have.

Good luck and feel free to share anything interesting you come up with!

For English we have the following out on tables for kids to participate in:
    - Massive roll of display paper where they can write their favourite books (the teachers start it off)
    - Boggle, bananagrams, appleletters
    - IWB games from eChalk
We have one "fun" room and one more "serious" room with work, books, results displayed etc. Works well.

Thank you - I like the idea of designing a menu, sounds appealing!
