Year 6 Leavers' Assembly

Discussion in 'Primary' started by howsoonisnow, Apr 26, 2008.

  1. Have a look at Edgy Productions
  2. My colleague is a play write, info on the plays is here http://www.bouncetheatre.com/schools/productions.

The Forest Where Kit went would be a really good one, as it is about a child travelling through a forest he/she drew - they meet various creatures/people who give them lessons/gifts to have the strength to change and move forward.
  3. click the link. It won't recognise the page but that's because it will have put a load of gobbledy gook in the middle of the address. Delete the gobbledy gook and it will work.

A song I played to my leavers - but not in assembly, was Greenday's The time of your life (Good riddance). I then changed the words to make them more personal and read the lyrics as a poem during the assembly. Gave them a copy each at the end.

  5. when i was in year 6 we used the heard it in the playground book and read out poems ie the head and deputy boy and girl read one and another group read another there is also a song to the tune of drunken sailor in there that we all sang was good fun... or you could try out of the ark music there are some good plays on there.

Couple of poems which you may find of use....

    Goodbye, Old School,

    Goodbye, old school
    We're going away.
    Goodbye, old school
    We're leaving today.
    Goodbye to the teachers.
    Goodbye to you all.
    The classrooms, the cloakrooms,
    The playground, the hall.
    Goodbye, old school,
    We're going away.

    Goodbye, old school
    We'll miss you a lot -
    The din and the dinners.
    Believe it or not.
    We'll miss you, Miss,
    And remember you, Sir.
    When lessons have faded
    And homework's a blur.
    Goodbye, old school
    We'll miss you a lot.

    Goodbye, old school
    We'll never forget
    The smell of the cloakroom
    With coats soaking wet.
    The balls on the roof
And the songs on the bus.
    We'll think of you -
    Will you think of us?
    Goodbye, old school,
    We'll never forget.

    Goodbye, old school
    What more can we say?
    It's bon voyage
    It's anchors aweigh
    The desks are quite empty;
    The classroom is bare;
    But our hearts are full
    And you'll always be there.
    Goodbye, old school
    What more can we say?

    I Cross the Bridge

I cross the bridge and leave behind
The world I know so well.
    A place without surprises,
    So ordinary and dull.

Across the bridge what lies there?
    If only that I knew.
    A land of possibilities,
Where all my dreams come true?

Every bridge I cross in life
Will take me to new ground.
Old things will be left behind,
But new things will be found.

  7. Thank you for all the ideas! They are fab! I really like the "Goodbye school" poem, Nomad!
