Hi, my topic this term is South America, my class did a lot of work last year on Rainforests so I was hoping to stay away from that theme. Can anyone recommend a good book based in South America that we can use for some whole class teaching.

I would prefer it to be quite a short book and it needs to be fiction,

    Any suggestions really appreciated,

I would definitely recommend Journey to the River Sea by Eva Ibbotson. City of the Beasts by Isabel Allende will be too old for your class, it's more young teen fiction however it has lovely descriptions and is well written so there may be bits you can use.
