Year 3 maths lesson for an interview. HELP!

Discussion in 'Trainee and student teachers' started by slteach18, Apr 21, 2012.

  1. Hi there!

I am currently studying for an Early Years PGCE and I have got an interview on Monday. They have asked me to teach a 30 minute lesson to year three on written methods of addition and subtraction. Being an early years specialist I have never taught above year two and feel very anxious! Any ideas would be amazing!!!

    Thanks in advance,

    S

  3. Hi there,

I'm not sure if you are familiar with this website, but it could be good for a few ideas.

I would start with a five minute mental activity, such as revising number bonds and would cover addition first. I would keep it to tens and units. Have they given you any more details on levels, previous work covered etc? It's such a wide area to cover.

    Good luck
