Can someone explain why a child can only be 'classed' as a l3 by the end of Year 2 if they are a secure 3B and if they are a 3C they go down as a 2a. To reach my class's targets, the majority would have to make 5 sub-levels of progress to hit their target... I know I'm good...

  2. Every local authority meeting I go to tells us they only need to be 3c to be classed as a l3 in year 2. It may be your school wants to show better progress/va by year 6. I teach in an infant school so any level 3 is good for us!

Ours only need to be a 3c as well. But you do have to absolutely 'prove' they are that 3c or above. Any slight doubt and they get a 2a.
