year 1 recounts - any ideas?

Discussion in 'Primary' started by haroon1234, Apr 21, 2011.

  1. Hi

I'm a trainee teacher and will be teaching year 1 recounts after the Easter holidays. I've been told to cover this unit in one week and the teacher has suggested the children could write about what they did during their holidays. However, I think this is a little dull and I'm thinking of getting the children to do something practical and then basing their recount work on the practical activities.

There is no trip planned and so I can't get them to write a recount about a trip. I was thinking of getting the children to make some masks. Any ideas?

  3. You could set a practical task on day 1 such as a treasure hunt or something related to your theme then work on writing a recount about the task.
