We keep being told about the importance of reasoning and problem solving in Maths. However I find this hard for Year 1 children to record themselves and even to find appropriate problems. So, what does problem solving look like in your Year 1 classroom?
    Thank you! :)

At this time of year it's lots of verbal, practical stuff and a little recording. Have you got the Mastery stuff? there's lots of good info on ncetm site.

As long as they are solving a problem, does it matter if they can record it themselves? When I worked in KS1, we used to take photographs of children working on problem-solving activities and stick them into books with an annotation. The children enjoyed the activities and we had a record of their learning: win-win!
