Year 1 Numeracy assessment help!!!!

    I would look at pitch and expectation and the AfL questions on the numeracy strategy archive to give you some questions at roughly the right pitch. Then I would start with number/place value and plan a lesson that you think will be appropriate and just see how it goes, noting down as many observations and misconceptions as you can. The level children are working at in number should then give you a good baseline level that you can apply to other areas of maths. If you do this and find they can't cope then you will know they are behind and begin to get an idea of what they are struggling with and what their next steps are.
