Year 1 Familiar Settings-what are you doing?

Discussion in 'Primary' started by geniegirl, Aug 28, 2012.

  1. Hi all,
I'm new to Y1 this year (I have taught Y1 a few years ago, but so much
seems to have changed in our school that I'm not pretending that
    I'm brand new!)

Anyway, I pulled out the old Literacy plans for Familiar Settings and they have
previously based on a few Julia Donaldson books-Gruffalo and Monkey Puzzle. I'm
not quite sure how those relate to familiar settings! The plans ate hardly
differentiated, so I'm thinking I'll just start from scratch!

What stories are you using for this unit? Any handy activity idea that I could
    'magpie'?

    Thanks!
