Year 1 Classroom Management

Discussion in 'Behaviour' started by bugs1st, Jul 8, 2013.

  1. I have been a KS2 teacher for the majority of my career. I am relocating and will be teaching Year 1 as of September. I am looking forward to the challenge but understandably feel a little unsure as to how to manage Year 1's. I do not know songs or particular age appropriate strategies. I would appreciate any ideas or advice and even classroom set up ideas. If anyone has some books to recommend that would be great too! Many thanks.

Charlie Taylor's 'Divas and Dictators', although aimed at the parent market more than the teacher, is an excellent guide to the relationship you need to have at that stage.

    Good luck
