Year 1: Any ideas for the end of day routine for children getting bags, coats etc

Discussion in 'Behaviour' started by 2andy, Sep 21, 2013.

  1. I am an NQT and new to Year 1. Do you have any tried and tested methods for organising the end of the day when the chn. get their bags, coats, water bottles etc for meeting parents at 3.15? On chairs? The carpet? Playing some calming music (for them and me!)? Andy.

I put on a Jackanory story (story book read aloud) and call them up a table group at a time. My end of day routines were absolutely manic too but this has worked for me so far. I have to give them a good fifteen minutes to do this calmly!
  3. thanks jyesil. I'll give it a try. I'm also going to try some calming music. Do you dismiss them from the carpet or at tables? Thanks, andy.
