I hope you don't mind opening the bar just for me, but Champagne is the order of the day. My daughter has, perhaps against expectations, got the grades she needed for Uni.

    Hi all!

First time in the bar, shame I've never been in before!

What do people tend to put into twitter when they're looking for mathsy stuff? I've put some things in but never really get much out (usually kids moaning about their maths lessons/exams)

Not quite sure what you mean lou but do a search on #mathchat then you can change to 'All' if you want to see all recent tweets - Twitter seems to have some funny ideas about what should be 'Top' sometimes.

The secret with Twitter is to be very selective with who you follow!

It is not just Maths that has gone slow. All the forums seem pretty stagnant. It is such a shame!

Agree it is indeed a shame. Whilst here in x kbar though - wishing everyone a great 2015.

Evening Casy, Happy New Year to you! I got 19, but it would be interesting to try to prove that was a minimum.

Day 2 off the vino and already engaging in recreational mathematics. There's no hope...

Hi Andrew - spent quite some time looking at this yesterday and am wondering if 19 is indeed the minimum. It would indeed be interesting to try and prove that.

Agree with that and also to the Core Maths team. But why stop funding now when both needed?

Nice to hear from you DM!

It's always hard to get continuation funding - often the only way is to change things and wrap them up differently so that you're asking for funding for something new (even if the main point is to continue what you were doing).
