Writing Levels in EYFS

Discussion in 'Early Years' started by pencil5, Mar 28, 2011.

  1. As the EYFS leader and KS1 literacy co-ordinator I have been asked to lead a whole school staff meeting on levelling writing in reception which I am more than happy to do. However, I would like to ask a couple of simple questions to clarify information regarding this.
    1) For those children who achieve scale point 9 in reception in writing (very few chn) do we go on to assess them using APP which is what the rest of KS1 and KS2 use?
    2) Pscales are ONLY for SEN pupils and not for year 1 chn who should continue to be assessed on the Profile until scale point 9 is achieved?
  2. At recent training, we were told to use APP as soon as it applied, so I would say yes!
