Writing IEP targets for reception

Discussion in 'Special educational needs' started by MissMynett, Jan 30, 2012.

  1. Does anyone have any banks of targets suitable for reception/early years children? Mine always seem to be too vague :/

I can't give any specific advice but in my experience you get vague targets when you try and do too much with them. Keep them small and manageable with specific things that you want the child to be able to do/learn.
    For instance
To be able to sit on the carpet for 10 minutes without touching another child (this might be too long to start with)
To learn initial letter sounds s,t,p and m and to be able to identify at least 2 objects which start with each letter
    Hope this is helpful
