World War I Cake

Discussion in 'Cookery' started by Mynci, May 9, 2012.

  1. Made this twice in the last 2 days it was so good! My daughter was given the HW to make a WWI cake or find a recipe and write down the ingredients. We found and made this. Really easy, and yum

  3. my late grandmother ran a bakery with her sister in ww1 - she died when i was quite young - wish i'd had the chance to get her recipes off her - she did tell me a lot about the regulations once, and how they could get round them, but it's all muddled in my memory now

I don't like to quibble but this recipe is obviously American - did they have shortages in WW1?
