    From WBN:
"The inaugural World Book Night will take place on
Saturday, 5 March 2011, two days after World Book Day.
    One million
books will be given away by an army of passionate readers to members of
the public across the UK and Ireland – and you could be one of them!
    We
want twenty thousand people to volunteer to receive copies of their
favourite title from the World Book Night list. You have until January
24th to apply to be a giver."

If your application to be a
giver - a World Book Knight - is successful, we'd love to hear from
you! Please message me with your information, and details of the event
    you are planning.

    Kind regards, and good luck!

    Hi Chantel
I have registered for the World Book Night and am hoping to become a Knight! The WBN Twitter account is excellent - having been put through to the link of Mark Haddon's interview I got tweeting with one of the staff there and even though it is such a big event, there is also a sense of unity and intimacy. I am also hoping to be able to recieve one of the books that i haven't read on the list - fingers crossed!

  4. i was really excited about this and wanted to get involved ... until i discovered that all the books i'd have to give out would be the same title.
i don't know 40 people in my community who all have the same likes and dislikes when it comes to reading and i feel that giving someone a book that didn't particularly appeal to them would NOT result in them becoming more interested in reading but instead, it could put them off reading forever.
now, if you gave me 40 books with different titles, then i'd have a great time matching the book with the person ... and they'd all come back for more and more ...
