oopsa There is no easy answer and to make normal good people who are always prepared to give the benefit of the doubt, turn the other cheek, accept the voice of authority without question and to always readily accept 'obvious' explanations aware of the way workplace bullies really operate requires requires that people are made aware of how the bullies operate. Schools, charities, healthcare and churches have lots of 'good' people who are easy prey for anyone with narcissistic or sociopaths tendencies. The bullies often present as being knowlegable, confident and 'believers' when the reality is that they know and use the appropriate jargon, they do have a good general knowledge (but often lack depth or experience) and they are able to make people listen. Importantly they do not actually care about anyone but themselves. The establishment, staff and customers/pupils/congregation are seen as things to be used. They often easily get to positions of relative power within the establishment. Once established, they then cheat and abuse - the best staff get either dominated and controlled or discredited and damaged, weak individuals are given responsibility and the aims of the group (school, church,hospital) while being presented to the public (and to the group)as being served are actually badly damaged. Serial bullies already know and continually perfect their craft. They understand how to play on 'good' people's emotions when manipulating, grooming or targeting. They play dual roles of Mr Nice & Mrs Nasty with ease. They can make people think they are actually supporting their targets - sometimes even the target themself is fooled. I have nothing to teach them here. They can present the antithesis of the truth in public with such conviction that most of their audience accepts what they say without question and/or is sufficiently intimidated and/or isolated so as not to challenge what are falsities. The way forward is to continually spread the word amongst all teachers and to reinforce the view that to create an anti bullying culture requires that everyone recognises the signs and the causes of a 'Hostile' environment. When they recognise the symptoms, they then should establish the source and the target while at the same time being vigilant to the possibility that they themselves are being used to invalidate / bully others. Re the view that my posts / views might actually make things worse for individuals who are being targeted, I see where you are coming from but this would require that the bullies themselves read this stuff. and that the targets don't. A few people have previously said and done things to 'encourage' me to call it a day. I thought they were wrong - I know they were wrong. There has been a change on the forums in the past seven months. People are now warning others of the traps that are set and the intention of nasty behaviours. I know that many people will continue to benefit for a while yet. Any support that will benefit others is as always much appreciated. (e.g. getting others to look at the many posts and to add those that you relate to to your hotlists so that you can point others to them for support).
