Working conditions in a prison

Discussion in 'Further Education' started by treesamid, Feb 15, 2012.

  1. Can anyone tell me about the conditions I should expect if working in a prison? I have a job interview through Manchester College and have no idea about the hours I would work each day, or how many holiday days I would get each year?
I have heard that because they don't have terms like FE colleges do, I would be looking at less holidays. I have contacted the recruitment agency that Manchester College uses, but they said any questions like this could be talked about at interview?!
I currently have ten weeks holiday per year and whilst I would love to not have to work term time anymore..the thought of dropping to 4/5 weeks holiday isn't very enticing. Also the prospect of putting all that work into interview prep without actually knowing the basic holidays etc is a bit off putting
Any info would be great, thanks!
