wjec hospitality and catering -unit 2 paper

Discussion in 'Design and technology' started by anoshaugh, May 18, 2011.

  1. What did everyone think of the paper? Some of my students came out unsure if it was easy and felt some questions were a bit of a trick as they were easy! I am happy with the paper. Especially as covered knives and packaging yesterday. Many struggle with what a convenience product is-but at least 6 marks and not 12!

i thought it was a nice paper, yet some students from telling me what they put down made silly mistakes. Yet I did feel with the development side of it, it is more like food technology with development of products. like you loved the question on knives.

  4. I thought it was like a food technology paper didnt like the convenience products. Some of the language threw some of my weaker students.

  5. I didn't like the convienience foods question. We are teaching pupils to cook using fresh ingredients as much as possible, real cooking, and although there is a need for convienience foods sometimes (like puff pastry), we want to try and educate kids about proper food.
The packaging question was a flashback to the food technology days of old - I didn't like it and was disappointed it was in there.
The other questions were good and the students didn't mind them.
