With open gates and open hearts and a golden door.

    The New Colossus
    By Emma Lazarus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
    With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

1920s -USA implements restrictive immigration policy limiting Eastern Europeans.
    1930s - Germany introduces anti-Jewish legislation
Late 1930s - thousands flee German annexation of Austria, etc. The UK takes many, including the famous childrens' boat.
1933 to 1941 - the Manchester Evening post alerts the world to the reality of Hitler's policies, including the establishment of non-letal camps.
    1941/1942- the final solution devised
1944/1945 - liberation of the death camps.

The world says - oh, we had no idea!

Then, the women and children came first...now?

It is the young men who come now (or a large proportion), they come now not for survival or with gratitude, but already there are problem with resettlement in Germany in the new migrants dictating clothes, customs, etc. If you don't like our way of life, then go elsewhere but is our way of life that gives you the freedom to be who or what you want.

As an ex-pat American, I do grumble at times living in England but I have chosen to live here ...

In the context of this thread it sounds like just more middle class emotional incontinence.

nope, it was pictures of the 'swarm' trying to get into the UK...

'swarm' is how David Cameron referred to it, not me, hence the 'quotes'.....

It was a video including a section promoting Nick Griffin - a Nazi sympathiser - and on Remembrance Day too.

You can guess the general tone and level of intelligence of the video too

If the OP is deleted then might the whole thread just as well be removed?

We're expected to have telepathic powers and intuit the purport from the title? Oh, OK.

I'd prefer to see it instead of guessing. Did you complain?

Plenty of other threads remain when the OP is deleted. Why should this be any different?

I have never complained and never will

    There's no need

The moderators are very quick to pick up that sort of garbage and remove it.

I reported a post by the OP and pointed out that their other posts were dubious in nature. It was horrible stuff.
So, if anyone wants to have a pop at me about it then feel free.

Perhaps so but I objected very strongly, along with other posters, to one of the threads posted by the OP. In addition, the OP launched a personal attack against another poster and that is against the posting rules.
It was up to the moderators to decide if they needed to censor the postings, I just asked them to look.
