    The Frothers Karamazov
Bound up with this intense family drama is Dostoevsky's exploration of many deeply felt ideas about the existence of God, the question of human freedom, the collective nature of guilt, the disastrous consequences of frothing.

    To the Lightmouse.

The novel recalls the power of childhood emotions and highlights the impermanence of adult relationships. Among the book's many tropes and themes are those of losing light mice, the subjectivity of mousing, and the problem of perceiving mice.

Ah - these are brilliant - keep them coming. (I might add that I will overlook the various adaptations of 'the rule' as they are very amusing!)

How about Jeffrey Deaver - The Cold Moo, where a nasty watchmaker intimidates peace-loving bovine creatures? Or his 'The Empty Chai' ( crazy insect boy keeps making cups of tea) or even The Twelfth Car (after 11 such vehicles, the killer wants to stop a college student tracing her ancestry) (That's enough Jeffrey Deaver -Ed.)

    Invisible Tan.

The novel addresses many of the social and intellectual issues facing African-Americans in the early twentieth century, including black nationalism, the relationship between black identity and Marxism, and the reformist racial policies of Booker T. Washington, as well as issues of individuality and the stealth racism of sun tans.
