Windows Movie Maker v Serif MoviePlus

Discussion in 'Computing and ICT' started by markthesmith1, Jan 12, 2011.

  1. Is it worth changing from Windows Movie Maker to Serif? What can Serif do that the Windows program can't? Most kids at home can continue to play with their videos using Movie Maker (but not Serif MoviePlus) but I'm finding it a bit basic. Anyone got opinions based on experience? Also, what did you pay for a site licence?

    @DJP - Are you using MoviePlusX5?
    Do you network the video files? If so are there speed issues with accessing video files?

    No we are happy with X3 and have not upgraded at this moment.
    At the moment we do network video files but I get the kids to work with ones that have been compressed down to lower quality resolution (around 1mb a min) so that it does not kill our copper backbone.

    We've had numerous issues with MovieMaker freezing and not handling filetypes that it should. To the point where we're not doing any "low end" video editing at the moment.
