The USS Discovery launches on September 25th via Starfleet channels known as Netflix.

Is it a case of all aboard who want to get on board or will you waving it farewell from the docks, hoping never to see it return?

Or maybe abandoning ship when an iceberg strikes?

Or launching a hostile takeover with Somali pi ... [OK sorry getting carried away with the nautical allusions]

I'll certainly give it a try. If you've read my postings you'll know I rate ST:DS9 as a TV highpoint of the 1990s.

We're not on Netflix, so I'm hoping other channels will pick it up...

Unlikely Frank... outside of the US Netflix has sole global distribution rights...

Maybe in a decade or so... sorry.

Alternatively if they produce a boxed set on DVD I may suggest it for a birthday/Christmas present from my nearest & dearest!

Star trek is a bit past its sell by date, isn't it? I used to watch it years and years ago. I didn't realise it was still going. Aren't all the protagonists dead by now?

    Has Voyager returned?
Is DS9 still on it's ongoing mission to go nowhere?
Are the Klingons friends or enemies?

What style of leadership does the Captain adopt? The Picard approach or the Kirk approach?

Not that I know anything about Star Trek or anything.

Television shows mine old properties all the time. Now they are being retro about those properties and exploring the history of the Star Trek Universe (or one of them at least).
Here you will get greater insight into the characters from TOS (The Original Series) as you will be getting your hands on new historical data about them. Great for sci-fi history teachers :) [IMG]

    I'll be watching it :)

If there's anyone that's wanting some good Sci Fi between now and then and not seen it then I strongly recommend The Expanse. Really good solid hard sci fi, well acted. Not sure how it rates against the books as I've not read them yet but There's a set of them doing the rounds in my family and I'll be getting them next.

Agreed on The Expanse TV show...

I've read 5 of the books and I have book 6 on order when it comes out in paperback. Vol.4 was a weak link but other than that, a really solid sci-fi series.
