WJEC - Less poetry than AQA?
AQA - the spec is clearer and there are more resources on their website.
WJEC - we have had some issues with consistency of marking since the new specs came in.

I like how WJEC doesn't have such a big emphasis on poetry compared to AQA.
The literature controlled assessment for WJEC is a bit bonkers: students have to compare one theme across a Shakespeare play and a collection of poems - it's a four hour CA (split up as you wish) and, quite honestly, the links are very tenuous.
WJEC aren't as efficient as AQA; their resources aren't as polished and the marking seems a bit hap-hazard. For language students have to write quite formulaically about the reading texts in the exam so higher-tier students who try to break down the language and don't focus on the whole text seem to be penalised.
It's a six of one, half-a-dozen-of-the-other situation I think. We discussed moving from WJEC to AQA but decided we may as well wait until the next round of spec changes.
