If only Kevin and Lauren played mixed double together.
We'll done JoKo. Some proper tennis with people trying to win rather than not lose.
First set to Murray and Williams. I think Andy is a bit in awe of Serena and hasn’t showed his best yet. Lovely to see them on centre court.
Evans just got his game through to the fifth set - go Dan!
Close but no cigar . Phenomenon effort from Dan
Great effort. Huge disappointment for him. It was quite a battle.
I think Andy and Serena will have their work cut out when they play a decent couple but lovely to see them relaxed and happy on court
The greatest sight for me today was the genuine friendship between Nadal and Tsonga at the end of their match.
I read the report in the ST before about the doubles match . It was glowing in praise for the Andy / Serena combo - they were not that good. Their female opponent scarcely got a ball in court !
Great play from Simona to put the kid back in her box.
Talent and experience won this time. I’m sure Coco’s time will come but she’s done well.
I sure it will, hopefully with a lot less hype.
Tsonga is a class act:
Indeed, she may not see it or get it but this was by far the best thing that could have happened to the young player. She will be reminded she needs to work hard and now she will be allowed to as all the incredible (nauseating) hype will cool down for a while.
Had she beaten a true top female player then I truly would have feared for her health as she would have been eaten alive by the media.
Now she can rest, re-group and work on her game.
Well played, Konta.
Well done JoKo. She should beat Strycova next to face Sir Ena or Riske.
What's to like?
Have managed to avoid it completely so far.
Such a bore if you pay money for centre or no1 and end up seeing Federer, Nadal or Djoko (unless they are playing each other).
The most physically demanding individual sport in the world.
The positives :
Some brilliant shots from seemingly impossible angles.
The negatives :
The screamers and grunter. Austin and McEnroe commentating.
I also feel uncomfortable with the size of some of the officials. There I've said it.
Konta is throwing away points left, right and centre. The game is hers to lose at the moment.
