Well I've just finished ''Carpe Jugulum''... good read... I'm enjoying The Witches books.

Agnes and Perdita was amusing, Mighty Oats was good...

Well I took your advice, popped into a new branch today... walked out with Witches Abroad and Men at Arms on CD.

    2 for £8.

I actually thought of your post as I was walking past. Thanks!

Reading it, it seems to be the final fruition of The Watch concept... so probably a 6 part BBC adaptation of Guards Guards, maybe with side threads woven in for a wider narrative ... hints of other stories [having an opera house in there, some wizard background characters etc]

Interesting discussion below the link for casting.

Sena Bean and Jason Issac both mentioned for Vimes.
I'd love to see James Purefoy as Vetinari.
Is Kevin Eldon still kicking about? He'd be good... Nobby?
Have to give the others some thought.

Or get in the ''Inside No9'' lads... those two would be very good as Nobby and Colon...

And Mark Gatiss as Vimes? ... maybe...

    McKenzie Crook as Rincewind?

Hmmm... yeah I could see that...

    Matthew Baynton?

What a great casting that would be. Not Mark Gatiss as Vimes though...Vimes is supposed to be streetwise and tough. MG is too...slimy...he would make a good Veterinari, possibly.
I would have said Pete Postlethwaite, but can Sean Bean do comic timing...?[IMG]

What about Gary Oldman? He can do streetwise and tough and comic timing too.

I did think about him TBH but he didn't sort of fit for me.
How about Mr Butler? Could Vimes have a Scottish accent?(Or can he do other ones?)

Although Clive Owen really looks like a (young) Vimes to me..[IMG]

True... he'd make a good villain in an adaptation of ''Guards Guards''
