What do you reckon the PG in PG tips stands for?

Could it be help in understanding what Peer Gynt is all about? Assistance with personal gratification? Something to do with working out what this poxy government is up to?

Isn't this why they created almost useless sites like "Ask Jeeves" and "Wikianswers"?

Was called Pre-Gest-Tee when launched in 1930s. The name implied that the tea could be drunk prior to eating food, as a digestive aid. Grocers and salesmen abbreviated it to PG

It could be that. When I was a young research worker in the civil service, I and two others worked in a v large room on our own and livened up what was usually a very boring day by emptying PG tea bags and rolling ourselves cigs with the contents for what we imagined might be personal gratification. But we all got splitting headaches instead.
