Oh dear does no one teach topics!!??
In our FP training we were told that the range was a context for learning, not a compulsory ticklist.
In answer to your question, the yr 2 teacher chooses the topics in our school, in conjunction with the yr 1 teacher, allowing room for development of childrens' interests. A mini topic may be added if it is felt that a certain skill had not been covered.
I would give them a skills map, not a content map, showing which skills you intend to cover each term (allowing for change as you see your children develop).
Our LEA has advised us to use the outcomes for the skills map. E.g. look at the outcomes for outcome 5/6 (ish) (for yr 2) and give them a map for each area of learning based on those outcomes.
