White Paper - What do you think?

Discussion in 'Independent' started by Dixie1234, Mar 4, 2011.

  1. Hi all
    A question for you all!
I'm in Senior Managment at an Independent school and we've been asked to consider how the recent White Paper might affect Independent schools and what we might need to do as a result. Am interested in your views.....what do you think?????

You need to look at it yourself, of course, or at least a summary of it.
One way it might impact is that the funding for maintained sixth forms is to be reduced. They will probably therefore offer fewer A level subjects. This could be something to consider, fast, in your marketing of your sixth form for September.
    Best wishes

I am working my way through the full document at the moment and have looked at various summaries as well. I'm in Primary, not secondary though and as I read it, the freedom for Heads that the White Paper promises looks to encourage schools to adopt their own curriculum models, potentially along similar lines as independent schools. What's your view?
