Which reading scheme?

    Hi all,

New English coordinator here. Lots of ks2 experience but only a year in ks1 in one small school. Which is best, CM or ORT?

Lots of pressure from a highly politicised staffroom to resticker and use ORT levels. Some staff vehemently against Cliff Moon, which is current system, with vague reasons.

About a third of our book band books are CM and a third are ORT branded. All 'levelled' and stickered according to CM.

    Thanks all

    N

We bought boxes of book band stickers and stickered all of our reading schemes. We then put them into book band boxes. This has worked very well for pupils being able to choose which book they would like to read next and for staff choosing sets of books for reading groups. Our reading progress tracking showed a significant rise in the months after we book banded everything. Our reading results across the school have continued to be very good.
