Where to begin with Phonics?

    Check out You tube. There's a video on there which should help and you should be able to find absolutely tonnes of stuff on the net.

    You'll do lots of work on phonics as part of your course. No-one expects new students to know it all before they start :)

    Lots, really? We had one 1.5hour seminar on it. Then we were expected to teach it! I think OP Is very wise to want to research before they start. OP, I'd recommend starting with 'Letters and Sounds', the government document many schools use as a starting point, should give you an overview of what children learn in what order.
  4. http://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/ - is a good place to start. Click on the 'free phonics' play and browse around the site. Take note of the different phases. Also have a look a the 'teachers' area as there are some lesson plans there and this might give you a idea or how you would teach phonics.
