Where could I find a good tutor for an IB student?

    Dear colleagues,
I am a primary teacher in need of an English HL tutor for my IB offspring.
Where or how can I find a private tutor? Could anyone make any suggestions or pm me, please?
Should I do it through a tutors' agency?
    Thanks :)

Try the Tutor Hunt, UK Tutors, or First Tutors websites. On the last of these you can make a specific marketplace request.
Do however be aware that, as well as large numbers of incompetents advertising, a good number of wannabe tutors are very dishonest and will swear on their mother's grave that they have IB experience when they have never even heard of the IB Diploma.

Try the Tutor Pages. I was able to specify that I've taught IB Psychology on my profile. Ask a few specific questions over the phone to check they are real IB tutors (e.g. for psychology I'd be asking which module options they specialise in for unit 2). Good luck :)

With regard to this recommendation, let me put it this way. I wasn't very impressed with this site and certainly wouldn't advertise my services on it.

Oh, and the The Tutors' Association is a pathetic joke.

Why aren't you impressed with the Tutor Pages, David? I get most of my students from advertising on there.

Hi there, i can recommend a number of agencies to you but am not sure if I can post their websites publicly. I am happy to talk about tutors I know with IB experience in a private message. Good luck and I hope you have managed to find someone p.

You can choose from more number of teachers if you look for online teachers. For example I am teaching students from many countries from home. The fact that they are choosing me shows that i have the expertise but then I can not be in London to teach them. Get, what I mean?

If your offspring is about to start the IB, you could do worse than talk to people starting their second year, as it is likely that some of them will have had a tutor. Or parents of students who have been tutored for A-level. I retired with no intention of doing any tutoring, and found myself being asked to tutor IB Maths on a recomendation from somebody in my running club.
