What makes a good Principal Teacher?

What skills would you be looking for?

What would you be looking for the person to be able to do to ensure they were ready for this next phase in their learning and development?

    TIA.

It is a Scottish thing @Jesmond12

Basically the same as secondary HoD or primary school teacher with a TLR.

Having trained and taught in Scotland myself, I found the main things Principal Teachers had common were:
    - experience
    - a positive and solution focused outlook
    - one foot ALWAYS on the ground with the chalk face team

Every one I worked with was fantastic and a real asset to their school. It doesn't seem to be a step up to a Deputy. It's more for someone who wants to keep their hand in class (maybe sharing with an NQT!

Ive not been there for a few years so might be different now due to recruitment crisis.

I would desire a capacious sporran and total proficiency in putting the shot.
