What will I forget to take on holiday?

Discussion in 'Personal' started by impulce, Aug 24, 2011.

  1. We've rented a holiday cottage in Norfolk for a week from Friday.
I think it's fairly well equipped, but lots of minds are better than one. What kind of things should I put on my packing list that I am likely to forget otherwise!?
    Thankyou!!

Things I always forget to take on holiday:

    • sense of decorum

    we forgot showergel/soap.

headache tablets, they're always missing when most needed.

  7. *Has mental image of Grandelf on one hell of a weekend in Norfolk, pantless with nothing but a bottle opener and a crab line for company*

    it's easy done round here.

  10. I always take a sharp kitchen knife to cottages as they rarely have anything remotely able to chop/slice etc.

  11. My packing list for all holidays is the same:
    toothbrush, toothpaste and bubbles
    lovely undies
    wine
    a credit card
    passport
    cash
anything else that is needed can be bought.

It would shock you to learn it only started off as a day trip!

Last time we went away self catering we wanted to open a tin of custard (I know, I know, I would normally make my own - promise). It didn't have the pull ring so often found on cans these days. We struggled for ages to try and prise it open and so on my list would be ... a can opener! I always take supplies to make a cup of tea or coffee on arrival plus a bottle of wine for the first evening. (More can be purchased later [IMG])
    Enjoy your hols! [IMG]

I love Norfolk and have had some superb holidays there, but they have been more enjoyable because we packed a windbreak for the beach. Hope you have a great time.

In the past I have had to rush out immediately on arrival, at various times, to buy toothbrush, contact lens solution, pyjamas.
I also once forgot to put the memory card back in the camera (it was in the computer) before packing the camera.

  18. I third the knives, plus a bottle-opener and salt & pepper.
Don't forget the chargers for your gadgets.

  19. A sharp knife. These holiday places never have a good sharp knife.
    ooh and salt and pepper!!

  20. Thanks everyone - some useful reminders!
I'd rather not buy anything there if I can afford it as Im trying to holiday on a bit of a budget!
