I suspect that'd be a vote winner... declare an ending for the longest war in US history...

For sure, Afghanistan would most likely revert to a Taliban state, I suspect within the decade we'd see China occupying Afghanistan.

Its all very well celebrating this decision but I expect it is more complicated than
    • now the USA has gone we can all get back to our quiet lives.

I'm sure it's just a coincidence that this is happening now that his presidency seems to be on fire and the forecast is of strong dry winds to come.

How the wall going? Is it built yet?

Maybe not, but plenty of pesky Commies looking for regional influence. Domino Theory and all that.

The House have passed a new funding bill which does include 5 Billion for his wall - but it won't pass the senate so we're back to square one.

If the funding for the wall isn't sanctioned this time - it never will be.

His presidency is really starting to fall apart - it was always going to be like this.

I welcome US disengagement in Syria, and hopefully they will follow suit in Afghanistan. I'm sure someone will sidle up to Trump and point out that US manufacturing industry these days consists of weapons manufacture, in every Congressional district in every state. Millions upon millions of Americans are employed making the weapons and equipment Trump is about to make redundant. No doubt Senators and Representatives, their jobs on the line, will start clamouring to invade somewhere, anywhere. Venezuela is my top tip.

Makes you wonder where they'll find all the cheap labour for such an ambitious engineering project, what with so much government largesse being thrown at it. :)

That chunk of wall near San Diego will be about 14 miles long when it's built.

It's going to replace an already existing 10 mile stretch

How long is the US/Mexico border ?
