Discussion in 'Design and technology' started by A Hopkinson, Feb 26, 2012.

  1. Please can you all help me out and complete my survey? (just click on the link it won't take long) .

I'm completing my master research into subject specialism in design and technology a what make the ideal teacher for KS3. A teacher who specialises in one area or one who covers the broad spectrum of material areas. I know it can a controversial topic but I would like opinions from D&T teachers no mater what your experience or material focus.

  2. Sorry the Link isn't to clear on that first post https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/GCQ3YNS

A very interesting survey and I'm intregued as to what you are trying to investigate.
I've answered as best I can, but please consider that there are a number of teachers who are quite comfortable teaching a wide range of subject areas and not everyone A. trains for a specific specialism. and B. sticks to one specialism. I started as an electronics/systems teacher but now I'm Product Design but diversify into RM and GP.
I have preferred specialisms but can easily adapt. Some of my collegues however are very set in their ways.
should your paper/investigation be published, could we get a link to the results as it genuinely sounds very interesting.
  4. Hi,
I have completed your survey and would be grateful if you could also complete mine....
I am also undertaking my Masters and looking into the impact of the introduction of Controlled Assessment in Design and Technology
If you could pass on to fellow DT teachers I would much appreciate it
  5. Thankyou to those who have completed this so far, but wouldl really appreciate more reponses. I know many people are teaching subjects out side therespecialism but am interested to know what your thoughts are and why you are doing this. I currently teach across the specum and love it but I also know colleagues are not so happy.
  6. Am happy to complete but link is not working.
  7. I'm can't figure how to get insert the link so you can just click on it please try copy and pasting it into you browser https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/GCQ3YNS
