What kitchen gadget or utensil could you NOT do without?

Discussion in 'Personal' started by anon4561, Feb 10, 2011.

  1. Kettle (life without endless supplies of coffee would be meaningless) and my rice cooker. The microwave died three months ago..... and I've actually managed to survive without it!

Is she available at John Lewis? Can I get a refund if I find her cheaper somewhere else?

There's no point in knives without pots, so I'll go for pots.
And, in true pseudy mode, a lemon.

I have one of those tiny little mixer things, which is fabulous for chopping things finely. Was horrified when my mum gave it to me - but it's much used!
  9. Not exactly a gadget. But having had kitchen ceiling plastered today I certaintly wouldn't want to be without my trusty old mop & bucket.
For how long will the black floor be drying white?
  10. Tin opener. Have you tried opening a tin without one?

I've done it with a can piercer from time to time by repetitive piercing in close proximity. You know, the thing used to open cans of liquid where you cut triangular incisions on either side of a can. Yes, cans have sides when such matters are being discussed.

Tin can death by a thousand cuts.
  14. silicone spatula and a teeny tiny whisk.
  15. The door has just fallen off my washing machine. I now fully appreciate what a vital contribution the washer makes to family life and I have promised never to take it for granted again.

I'm one of those annoying people who use them for almost anything except drying plates. Mostly as hand towels and oven gloves.
Also - my bamix. FAB gadget.
