What else / more can i do?

Discussion in 'Trainee and student teachers' started by PeGA, Nov 8, 2011.

  1. You have very much my train of thought.... lack of PE places, more experienced candidates etc. I can only afford to do 1 day a week as I have my current job.. I love teaching and the feedback I get is I'm good at it. In hindsight I should of applied a few years ago :(
I'm still hopeful of a place I'm just concerned it will end up like last year

  2. Is your personal statement suffeciently different to what you submitted last time?
Also, when you asked people to read through it, did they do so after having read whatever the training provider had said they were looking for?
It sounds like you should be in a strong position, so all the best, but as you said - there aren't that many PE places.
Also, have you applied to more than one provider?

  3. It does sound like you're a high quality candidate however you are affected by that simple principle of economics, supply and demand. There is an over supply of PE graduates wishing to train as teachers and there is low demand for PE teachers due to the recent changes for SSCOs and schools using non-specialists to fill up gaps in the timetable. These are factors beyond your control I'm afraid. You would probably have more success in applying for a PGCE place however there is no guarantee there would be a job at the end of it for you.

  4. Well my first rejection is through in the form of an email, in which they have not spelt my name right, makes me wonder if they even read the application.
''We have now closed for 2012 entry and have rejected your application'' I have applied to another five training providers i just hope this is not a sign of things to come.
I totally agree with what everyone has said regarding demand, SSCOs and non specialists. I am being used at the moment to cover PE in both primary and secondary, so maybe i have helped in my potential demise.
It is so frustrating, im getting bitter towards people who are on a GTP course and say its too hard or i don't know if i should carry on, only to find out they did 4 days experience and were awarded a place on a training course.
Still all you can do in these situations is remain positive and hope that you get a little bit of luck.

  5. Well its officailly game over for me and a GTP place.
Rejections from everywhere, so im sticking to sports and pe teaching in schools as i currently do !
Still not enough experience apparently, 10 years of working in schools, timetabled for the last 12 months. Hmmm makes me wonder

  6. Have you asked for specific feedback? Try to speak to them and find out where you fell down. They may not give you anything, but what's the worst that can happen?
    All the best!
