there was I hoping for a nice "no, no, they remake films really quickly these days"

4. Depends on the film - they've re-made the Karate Kid and that wasn't particularly old!

You are not old. Film makers are lazy and lack imagination these days.
I'll forgive the Cohen brothers for True Grit though. That was awesome.

6. I am a teeny weeny bit embarrassed to say what our first date movie was

..it means the film makers are wasting their money and today's audiences are dumbing down. Stick with the original, suspend your disbelief, cherish the memory and be proud to do so ;-)

Can't even remember the first film we went to see it was that long ago...!! Mind you, I can remember the films he huffed and puffed in irritation through - Remains of the Day, Howard's End, Titanic, Gladiator....!

I was talking about old songs with one of my Year 11s this week. She mentioned a song and I told her it came out when I was 21. Her response "was that in the 70s?"
No it was the bloomin 90s!!!
