Sorry for the negative title/post but what depresses/annoys YOU most?!

    1. School staff putting politics before pupils.

    2. The lack of money to achieve what you really want to achieve!

    3. The 19th century examination system tail wagging the 21st century society dog!

The sheer incompetence and downright malice of a succession of arrogant buffoons from Baker onwards.

For those children unable to attend a public school, selective school or leafy-lane top-of-the-table comp, the utter waste of talent at the top end.
For the lower end, having to endure a curriculum utterly unsuited to their actual needs, in the name of "equality".

    Education, education, education.

You should only need to be educated once.

The attitude of some pupils. The ones who refuse to make any effort and blame all of their failings on someone else. I do have some sympathy for them due to @xena-warrior's points though.

Exam factory nature of it all. No respect for practical subjects.

Unsupportive parents who can make your life a misery. Ones who can never accept the consequences for their children's behaviour.

The increasing expectation on the part of SLT that all Year 11 teachers will offer "interventions" in their own time to drag the feckless through their GCSE exams. Long gone is the expectation that the feckless, like everyone else, should take responsibility for their own learning and future path in life. We are doing these kids no favours in the long run.

    • Pushing children too rapidly through the curriculum in the name of progress.
    • The soul- less teaching that I see and the look of total boredom on many faces in the class.
    • Over- prescribed, micro-managed teaching methods which don't allow for individual styles of teaching.
    • That teachers don't hear children read 1:1 as there "isn't enough time."

How teachers complain constantly about the oppression they face from SLT/government but do little to fight it.

    I find that weakness depressing.
