What are they asking for? Letter or supporting statement?

    I need help deciphering what this job is looking for. This is what it says in the job advert:

    Please ensure you address the essential criteria for a mainscale post. You should demonstrate your ability to achieve in these areas. In your opening paragraph please include why we should appoint you and what special talent you will want to share with the school.

    In addition to the application form please submit a formal letter of application (up to 2 sides of A4) detailing your experience of teaching and learning and the impact your contribution will make to our school?s ambition to be outstanding

    From this I gather that they want a letter of application but then within the application form there is a section for 'Supporting Statement'. What should I do?
