What are the greatest 1970s comedy movies?

Discussion in 'Personal' started by TheHistoryGuy, Jun 2, 2011.

  1. Here are some of my favourites:
The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother - I just love this film, Madeline Kahn, Marty Feldman, and Gene Wilder, my favourite 'feel good' film
Young Frankenstein - Mel Brooks spoof with Kahn, Feldman and Wilder, great
High Anxiety - Love this Mel Brooks tribute to Hitchcock
Silent Movie - I think Marty Feldman was so funny in this Mel Brooks spoof, I wish he had done more films
Blazing Saddles - Madeline Kahn was so talented
On the Buses - late great Reg Varney and co
Mutiny on the Buses - excellent sequal
Holiday on the Buses - maybe the best
Carry on Behind - one of the very last carry ons and missing many of the regulars, however my favourite one from the 70s due to the combination of Kenneth Williams and lovley Elke Sommer.
Carry on Abroad - one of the best 70s carry ons with Charles Hawtrey's last appearance
Carry on at your Convience - another fantastic carry on
Carry on up the Jungle - a good one for Frankie Howard fans
Carry on Girls - a great one for Sid Jame's fans and also June Whitfield's biggest carry on role
Carry on Matron - any film with Valerie Leon in it is a winner
