I used to find taking my ipod helped the boredom. One advantage of a dog - you have to take it walks - although not necessarily 5 miles!
  2. I miss my walking time. Ipod on and off for a mammoth power walk, just me and my music. Absolute bliss.

Look at Ramblers for a group near you. In that area there is so much walking going on and you can go a few times before you have to cough up.
  4. Since I got a decent pair of walking boots I love my walking but without music - much prefer hearing the birds.
Would have loved to join you but don't live in Yorkshire.

I've joined a group that walks in yorkshire. Didn't think I'd find one that did walks below 10 miles, but I've managed. Thanks for the advice.

I'm really pleased for you - you'll enjoy it I bet. Did you go out today?

I just went to the gym today. I like going but I just fancied some fresh air. My new groups walk is the 15th but I'll probably do a mini walk next week as practice.
  8. Laura - go to www.meetup.com and search for Manchester Hiking and Cycling.
They're a great bunch of people who organise walks regularly all over the north west. I attended for the first time on the 2nd Jan and loved it. Next walk is the 16th. Have a look!
