    Hello music teachers!

I am hoping to get a recommendation as to a suitable viola to buy for a student in year 5 who is just beginning lessons. Any leads will be gratefully received! I’m looking for a decent beginner model.

    Thanks,
    E

I think most start on an appropriately-sized violin strung as a viola.

@ejbonner1 There is a firm which specially make smaller violas - a Year 3 pupil started with a quarter size one. She ordered it from the company, they recommended a particular make of strings which they put on (and cost a little more), and it was delivered to her via courier. It had a lovely rich tone and the viola teacher (and pupil!) were delighted with it.
The whole outfit - viola, case and bow and delivery - cost about £220, I believe. I would thoroughly recommend.
