I am a secondary school teacher and one of my classes has students with a year 2 developmental age.

I am struggling to get them to follow the simplest of instructions and wondered if anyone who teaches primary could give me some words of wisdom.

They are lovely students but cannot even line up without becoming distracted with each other. It is leading to some very slow lessons.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks that could help me train them?

Is there more than one of them? Do they have any special needs? If not might be early days and they may just need the boundaries and expectations reinforced. If they do have Special needs I would speak to your SEN dept. they will no doubt have some tips and their plan, if they do not have special needs and you have tried the above, do they need an SEN assessment?
